Nigeria 57th year Independent day celebration recently held at Dish Out Ultra Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia was a source of satisfaction to all Nigerians from all walk of life and their American host community with sheer display of love, cultural heritage and oneness in Diversity that surpasses all ethnic background.

NIDO Atlanta, Georgia chapter will celebrate the diversity of Nigeria as a Nation, while devoting her successful celebration to our cultural diversity, our ability to safeguarding and promoting our cultural heritage in all its forms (both tangible and intangible), encouraging creativity (particularly in the cultural industries), and facilitating mutual understanding through intercultural dialogue, it also permeates all Nigerians in America to show competence in their root and culture unity, as “One Nigeria” is non-negotiable says Dr. Victor Ubani, Chapter President, Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO), Georgia Chapter.

The Special Guest of Honour at this occasion His Excellency Mr. Kayode Laro Honorable Consul General, Nigeria Consulate, Atlanta, Georgia while speaking at the occasion used to occasion to thanks Nigerian in Diaspora for their role in supporting the Nigeria economy and also use the occasion to seek the support of Nigerians in Diaspora for the government of President Mohammed Buhari in his fight against corruption and seeking the best investment environment  and also reiterate the commitment of the government of Nigeria to supporting Nigerians in the diaspora.

Also present at the occasion are notable personalities like Professor (Emeritus) Augustine Esogbue, NNOM, World Class Researcher and a one-time member of Advisory Panel of NASA’s Aerospace Safety, His Royal Majesty Oba Shola Akinrimisi the Oriade of Georgia, Dr. Macham (former prudent NIDO, Georgia), Prof. Joseph Ugbodaga Igietseme Chief of the Molecular Pathogenesis Laboratory at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Vanessa William Executive Director, Conference of Black Mayors (CBM) and the Deputy Consul General and NIDO Representative at the Nigeria Consulate, Atlanta, Georgia, Hon. Consul Innocent A. Inwejuo who equally use the occasion to assure NIDO of relentless support from the government of Nigeria for all of it’s activities.

Goodwill messages via satellite video from His Excellency Hon. Seriake Dickson the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator, Ademola Adeleke, Senator representing Osun West were played for hundreds of guests at the well-attended Nigeria Independence Day celebration.

This event celebrating Nigeria at 57 was able supported by many Nigerian owned companies and organizations like Ping Express, Nigeria (Diagnostic Trust Fust) NDDTF- Atlanta, Nigeria Nurses Association of Georgia (NANNNA – NNAG) and many other individuals, great thinkers, business practitioners and decision-makers in the diaspora.

The highlight of the occasion was a command performance by the visiting Blind Boys of Bethesda School for the Blind, Lagos Nigeria who were showered with love and monetary gifts by attendees and NIDO members alike. The membership director of NIDO, Georgia Chapter Mr. Bishop Adejube enjoins all Nigerian in diaspora to join NIDO and not wait till they have need for help or are in trouble before seeking shelter with such organization as we have several programs that is out to inform and protect all Nigerian in the diaspora of their rights and priviledges regardless of their background, ethnicity or belief.

NIDO wishes to build on the advances of recent years and in particular to emphasize that cultural diversity has its corollary inter-cultural solutions in dialogue of our National Unity says Mr. Steve Ajayi NIDO, Georgia Chapter Public Relations Officer.
