The Lagos State government has announced that the new date for the resumption of Public and Private Secondary and Primary Schools will be declared soon.

Mr Kayode Abayomi, the head of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, made this known on Sunday.

He emphasized that the second wave of COVID-19 will be the major determinant for schools resumption and at that schools won’t be resuming on Monday, the 4th as earlier announced.

“Please recall that the ministry of education earlier announced 4th of January as the resumption date for the second term 2020/2021 academic session, but this has since been overtaken by the turn of events due to the recent waves of COVID-19 pandemic”, he said.

“As a result of the spike in Coronavirus pandemic, Mr Governor announced the indefinite closure of all schools. To this end, kindly be informed that a new date of resumption will be announced as soon as possible”, he added.
