The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has ordered the reopening of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo after meeting with the students, staff and management.

The state Governor had earlier ordered the shutdown of the institution following the unruly conduct of the students during protests on June 2.

After the students were led by the Provost of the college, Dr Rasak Adefabi, alongside the college management team to apologise, Governor Ajimobi ordered the immediate resumption of academic activities.

At the end of the meeting, the Governor said:

Our students should always engage government and relevant stakeholders in dialogue on issues that affect them.

You have apologised to the government and we have seen that you are sober.

We have accepted your apology and hereby announce the re-opening of the institution with immediate effect”.

However, the Governor also charged the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) on what to do for the resumption of the after several months of school closure.school

He asked that the school management cooperates with the auditors sent by the owner-states (Oyo and Osun) to investigate the finances of the state university.

Is it wrong for government to demand the auditing of a public institution, which government has been spending on?”, he queried.

LAUTECH has been shutdown since May 30 over the non-payment of salaries for workers.
