The youth caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State has expressed dismay at what it referred to as unguarded statements from the Independent Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Mr. Mike Igini.
In a statement signed by Obong Iniobong John, the caucus described a statement credited to the Electoral Commissioner that APC candidates were at the election petitions tribunal mainly because they wanted appointments as ‘a partisan and scandalous outburst by a supposed unbiased and non partisan electoral umpire”.
The party caucus accused the INEC REC of being the “chief propagandist of the PDP, castigating, blackmailing APC candidates for going to the tribunal to challenge the outcome” of the election which the APC described as “fraudulent”.
“With this unguarded statement by the Akwa Ibom INEC REC, no further proof is needed to show that he was and still remains part of the PDP rigging template in the last election. And evidently, he is acting PDP scripts”, the statement read.
The APC youths went on to urge the INEC National Chairman to call him to order.
