The electoral commission was served with two Court of Appeal (Awka Judicial Division) judgments regarding the PDP’s governorship campaign in Anambra, according to the electoral body.

In the run-up to the election, INEC stated that it would continue to obey and carry out judicial decisions and rulings.

The Court has directed the Commission to recognize and publish the name of Valentine Ozigbo as the PDP governorship candidate, according to a statement issued by INEC national commissioner and chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

According to Okoye, the PDP has substituted their deputy governorship candidate within the legal period.

As a result, he stated that the PDP’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates are Valentine Ozigbo and Mrs Lilian Azuka Enemo.

According to the commission, the final list of candidates will be revealed on October 7, 2021, as specified in the election’s Timetable and Schedule of Activities.

On the movement of non-sensitive items for the election, he recalled the attack on INEC buildings, noting, “The damage to the physical facility was extensive.

The destruction of moveable goods, including half of the non-sensitive materials previously provided for the election, was also a success.

In order to fulfill our deadlines, we took the pragmatic choice to deliver replacement non-sensitive materials from our South East Zonal Stores in Owerri, while the commission works to reconstruct the physical facilities.

“For clarity, non-sensitive materials are non-pharmaceutical COVID-19 goods including hand sanitizers and face masks, envelopes, posters, stickers, sellotapes, scissors, liquid gum, and other stationery items required primarily at the polling unit level,” says the statement.

However, after reviewing the dates for completing work on the devastated physical facilities, he stated that the commission is certain that the continuing work would be completed by the end of the month.

“As a result, the commission is now in a position to operate from our office in Awka, where all non-sensitive materials will be batched and distributed.

“We urge all stakeholders to continue to work with the Commission in order to ensure a transparent and credible election in Anambra State,” he said.
