Information scooped has it that the labour union of International Distilleries Limited, Ota on Wednesday threatened its management of production shut down if the management refuses to yield to their call to relief the Human Resources Manager, Edem Etuku of his duties.

Findings revealed that the Human Resources Manager who was employed in 2010 had at one time advised the management of the company to lay off its staffs and employ contractual staffs. The decision which did not go down well with the labour union of the company had them call for the manager’s sack. It took the intervention of the company’s management to help the resources manager keep his job till date.

It was gathered that few days, the Human Resources manager once again advised the management to lay off its staffs in order to pave way for contractual staffs and he took bold steps to list those staffs that will be sacked.

As the labour union got wind of the Patrick Anagbe led management’s move, some members of staffs took to the premises of the factory with placards reacting to the decision of the management.

Some placards reads “We are giving the management till Monday 13th February, 2017 to relief the manager of his duty or the company should expect the total shut down of production”.

To get the management reaction on the said protest and the decision to lay off staffs, Head of Marketing at Intercontinental Distillers Limited, Mobolaji Alalade was contacted on phone and he decline to speak on the development.

The Human Resources Manager was also called but he didn’t respond to our several calls.
