Here are excerpts of Gbenga Adeyinka’s interview with citypeople .ng
Your wife recently clocked 50 and many believe that she is older than you, what is the age difference like?
3 years, but for me, age is nothing but a number. If a 40-year-old man can marry a 20 something year-old woman, what is wrong in getting married to her.
Has she ever said (Gbenga, I am older than you when you say something wrong to her?
No, because she didn’t even know how old I was when we met and if I don’t tell people how old she is, nobody will know how old she is.
Thank God, I have parents who are educated, so they were supportive.
How did your parents feel when you brought her home?
It’s whatever I want they will want, but for me, age is nothing but just a number, even when I met her, I didn’t tell her my age but now I look older than her, so for me, age is just a number. I am very lucky to have her just as she is lucky to have me too.
For how long have you been married?
We have been married for 21 years now.
How did your paths cross?
I met my wife 21 years ago at Sparkline Idiroko Bus Stop, Ilupeju, she was working with a finance house, I was working with a construction firm and I saw her on the staircase and I said, “hi and she said helloâ€, I said “are you marriedâ€, and I said “well I am going to marry you†and she thought I was joking.
How does it feel being married to her?
It’s been amazing.
