Truck Drivers Set Diamond Bank Ablaze Over Death of Colleague

Hell was let loose in the early hours of Wednesday 19, July 2017 at Creek road in Apapa after a policeman attached to Diamond Bank allegedly shot dead a trailer driver.

What led to the fracas between the policeman and the truck driver that eventually led to his death wasn’t really ascertain as at press time but it was gathered that the argument degenerated to the extent that the policeman used his gun on him.

In direct reprisal of their colleague killed by the police, irate truck drivers attacked the team of policemen attached to the bank and vandalized the bank building and cars parked at the bank premises.

It was said that dozens of employees scampering to safety, which eventually led to disrupt in banking transactions. Before the pandemonium could be settled by the Rapid Response Unit policeman called by the bank, it was gathered that the irate drivers had set the bank on fire.

The help of fire fighters and sympathizers was said to have put off the fire before it went uncontrollable.

Normalcy has since been restored in the area by officers of the Rapid Response Unit
